Research

Su Mi Dahlgaard-Park (Su Mi Park) is currently a full professor and co-director for Masters program at the Institute for Service Management, Lund University, Sweden and distinguished visiting professor at Yuan zhe University, Taiwan. She has been head of research at the same institut during 2007-2009. She has been visiting professor at Tsukuba University, Japan (2007-2009), Verona University, Italy (2005-2007) and in large number of universities in Europe and Asia as a short term distinguished visiting professor. Before joining Lund University she was at Linköping University as Ass. and Associate professor (2000-2005), Århus University (1987-2000) as lecturer, Ass. and Associate professor, and Copenhagen University in Denmark (1985-1987).

She took BA degree in Political Sciences and Diplomacy at Yonsei University, Korea, BA and MA in East Asian Area Study from Århus University, Denmark, and Licentiate (Ph.D) as well as Doctoral degree in Management and Philosophy from Linköping University, Sweden.

Her research and teaching areas has been Organization theory, HRM, Learning & Knowledge Management, Quality and Service Management, Strategic organizational change and improvement, Japanese Management and Organizational culture. Within these areas she has supervised more than 150 masters and phd students. She has researched and published extensively on these areas. According to document from Emerald, one of her edited volumns'Consistency and Transformation in Quality Movement, a special issue of the TQM journal vol. 18 issue 3 became the most downloaded volum of the journal and her co-authored paper titled Lean Production, Six Sigma Quality, TQM and Company Culture - a Critical Review has been top five most downloaded article (nearly 20. 000 copies are downloaded) of the journal since it's publication in 2006.

One of her current professional engagements are co-chair for the annual QMOD-ICQSS conference since 1997. The conference has been organized in various countries (China, Slovenia (two times), Denmark, Sweden (three times), Korea, France, Mexico, UK, Italy (two times), Poland and Czech Republic ) and became one of the largest scientific conferences within the field of Quality, Services and Organizational Development. She is also serving as General Editor for Encyclopedia of Quality and the Service Economy (Sage Publication), Chief Editor for Int. Journal of Quality and Service Sciences (Emerald), Associate Editor forTQM and Business Excellence, (Rutledge) and The Asian Journal of Quality (Emerald). Beside she is serving as editorial board members in a range of international journals of:

She has been member of a evaluating committees for recruiting chair and full professor, associate and assistent professor in various Swedish universities and a main opponent or member of examining committees of many doctoral thesis for Swedish and foreign universities (Universities of Luleå, Karlstad, Chalmers. Mid Sweden, Borås, Århus, Yuan zhe, Malaysia univ.).

She has als been engaged in many other professional societies, among others, as members of Expert Panel, Vinnova (Swedish Governmental Foundation for Science), APO (Asian Productivity Organization), Advisory Board of Strategic Regional Developement of Skåne Region, Foreign Expert for Dubai Government, Evaluator for university education for Ministry of education in Lithuania, official evaluator for promoting faculty members for Greek Ministry of Education, Strategic Internationalization committee at Lund University, Research Council and advisory board of Campus Helsingborg, Lund University.

She is nominated and elected as academician of IAQ(International Academy of Quality) and has received several awards and recognitions: awarded outstanding paper award from Emerald publishing, award for supervising best master thesis from SEB & ÖstGöta Enskilda Bank, European Award for supervising the best master thesis on Quality Management from EFQM.

She has received large amount of research fundings from diverse foundations, among others, several times from Japan Foundation, EFQM, Vinnova, and Plattformen (Research foundation from Helsingborg City Government).

One of her recent research projects was to study about patient involvements, financed by Vinnova (2009-2011). Recently she is engaged in conducting a research project on audience experience, a research project financed by Plattformen.
