Research

My research focus on two main issues.

Firstly the structural transformation process on the road towards modern economic growth generally but with a particular focus on Southeast Asia. I examine what dynamic forces are at play in the development process with an emphasis on agricultural change.  

Secondly, I do research on the economic dynamics of colonialization. Tying it into the current development trajectories in the global south.  

Teaching

I teach primarily within two fields.

Firstly, the economic history of developing regions, particularly Asia Pacific, China and India. In these courses I highlight the growth dynamics of the developing world in a historical perspective.

Secondly, I teach development studies with a focus on the post war era. I am also the Director of Studies for the bachelor in Development studies at Lund University.

I am course convener on several of the courses.

In additon i also supervise and examine student on bachelor and master level.
