Personal profile

Research

I am an associate professor (docent) in microbial ecology since 2006. I got my PhD in biochemistry at the Lund University on biochemical studies of ligninolytic enzyme systems of white-rot fungi. This was followed by a post-doctoral stay at the Forest Product Laboratory (USDA) in Madison, U.S. (Host: Daniel Cullen), investigating heterologous expression of ligninolytic peroxidases in Aspergillus.

Presently my primary interest is fungal-plant interactions and specifically ectomycorrhizal (ECM) interactions. Our goal have been to understand the molecular background of both the symbiotic and the saprophytic lifestyles of these fungi. Research is including both genomic and transcriptional investigations using different platforms such as next generation sequencing (NGS). For these purposes, we are also operating a DNA Sequencing Facility, which provides various services.
