Personal profile

Research

My bachelor’s exam was in statistics here at Lund University, while I have my PhD from the Department of Plant Breeding at the Swedish Agricultural University. During 1990 I was a post-doc at the Genetics Department in Cambridge.

I have primarily worked within two scientific fields, plant genetics and the genetics of human disease. In plant genetics I have investigated recombination in barley, mapping in sugar beet, and the genetic structure of Arabidopsis suecica. Thus, my work includes plant breeding oriented questions, as well as questions relating to wild populations. In humans, I have worked on chromosome dynamics in tumors, mutation analyses in Protein S deficiency and von Willebrand’s disease, and association mapping in allergy.

Since 1991 I have taught genetics in many courses, mainly within the Faculty of Science at Lund University, but also in courses offered by the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Engineering (LTH) and the Agricultural University at Alnarp. Together with Bengt O. Bengtsson I have written a text-book called Understanding Population Genetics.
