Personal profile

Research

My research is about hand rehabilitation, mainly after peripheral nerve injuries but also about amputations in the upper extremity. I focus on sensibility, and sensory re-education/relearning after nerve injuries. I also investigate different ways to implement sensory feedback in hand prostheses in a non-invasive way. The latter is done in collaboration with LTH - Lund University of Technology.

Doctoral thesis
My doctoral thesis Towards a tactile artificial hand was about implementing and evaluating a non-invasive system for tactile feedback in myoelectric hand prostheses.

Teaching

I teach at bachelor and advanced level. In the occupational therapy program, I am responsible for the course Occupational Therapy: Functional Anatomy (10.5 credits) which runs during the first semester. I also teach in later semesters during the program.

The international course Rehabilitation in Hand surgery (15 credits) at advanced level is a commissioned education under Lund University. We invite the most prominent lecturers in hand rehabilitation and the course attracts students from all over the world.

Since 2023, I also lecture at the Certificate of Advanced Studies - Program CAS in hand therapy, Lecture Title: Module 3 - Peripheral Nerve Injuries at the University of Applied Sciences Vienna, Austria.

Professional work

I work at the Hand surgery rehabilitation department, Skåne University Hospital, Malmö, since 2009. I have worked with hand rehabilitation since 2003 and have experience in both conventional hand rehabilitation and rehabilitation in case of amputations or congenital reduction deficiencies of a hand or arm.
