I am Vasiliki Bougatsou and I am a doctoral candidate at the University of Lund. I hold an MA in Classical Languages, Literatures, and Ancient History from the University of Padua (Italy). My main research interests include insciptions, Greek paleography and textual transmission. I also have a strong interest in manuscript tradition and the history of medical texts. My research project entitled ‘The Pictorial Narratives of Herbal Medicine in Dioskorides’ De Materia Medica’ focuses on the narrative functions of pictorial representations in Dioskorides’ manuscripts and explores how text and image interact in the transmission of herbal medical knowledge.
