Research

As a climate scientist, I have been working on various aspects of climate variability and change, in particular the Indian summer monsoon and the variability and extremes of daily precipitation in different regions. I am especially interested in the coupling between the land surface and the atmosphere and the role of the changing land surface for climate variability and change. I have also been working with adaptation to climate variability and change in parts of Africa, i.e., in Zambia and Western Africa. Here, my focus is on the utilization of seasonal weather forecasts for various sectors, i.e., agriculture and water management, and on the potential impacts of future climate changes in the respective regions.
