Hej! Hola! I am Yedra, a plant evolutionary ecologist working on floral traits and plant-pollinator interactions. I am mainly interested in the ecology and evolution of flowering plants and phenotypic traits in relation to their interactions with pollinators, herbivores and other plants. I am also interested in understanding how plants adapt to environmental change and specifically to variation in pollinators’ assemblages.
I am a postdoctoral researcher in the SPACE group at the Biology Department, where I work with Øystein Opedal and Magne Friberg. My research project investigates the role of plant-pollinator interactions as drivers of the ecological and evolutionary processes shaping plant species and floral trait diversity by considering a co-flowering community perspective. As study system, I focus on the rich orchid community of the island of Öland (Sweden).
Specifically, the project aims to address i) patterns of floral trait diversity at the community level and whether these are related to varying pollination strategies (rewarding vs. food-deceptive orchid species), ii) effects of the co-flowering community structure on plant pollination and reproductive success, and iii) how natural selection acting on floral traits in a local plant community is influenced by pollinator-mediated interactions among co-flowering species.
