Personal profile

Research

In December 2021, I defended my PhD thesis in which I analyse Swedish medals issued between 1560 and 1792. I aim to contribute to the understanding of the varying uses and functions of early modern medals by applying a long-termperspective. By drawing on visual and archival sources materials and examining material from a Northern European context, the thesis provides an unprecedented wide-ranging study of the roles and meanings of early modern medals.

Previously, I have studied art history and numismatics at Uppsala University and the University of Vienna. My research interests concern early modern art and visual culture, art sociology and anthropology, cultural transfer, visual media, emblematic and numismatics.
