Personal profile

Research

My research focuses on early modern art and visual culture in Sweden and Northern Europe, with particular emphasis on art sociology and anthropology, cultural transfer, visual media, as well as emblematic art and numismatics. I am particularly interested in the diverse ways artworks were used and understood in their historical context. I completed my studies in art history and numismatics at Uppsala University and the University of Vienna. My doctoral thesis, The Medal in Early Modern Sweden: Significances and Practices, was published in 2021.

In my postdoctoral research, I investigate the connection between printed portraits and the rise of celebrity cultures. This work explores the production, dissemination, and mediation of engraved portraits in eighteenth-century Sweden and Europe at large.
