Description
Our previous studies suggest that air pollution during pregnancy might be a health risk formotherand child,even at levels
belowcurrent air quality guidelines. We observed an increased prevalence of gestational diabetes and preeclampsia with
increasing air pollution exposure,
Since dissertation I have continued working within the air pollution field with more detailed information on fetal growth
and confounding factors. Iamalso studying the biologicalmechanisms behind the air pollution effects with internationally
renowned clinical research groups. A very preliminary finding is an effect of fetalexposure to particles on brain alterations
in mice. Also recently,concern has been raised over the effect of prenatalexposure to air pollution on elevated risks of
