The main purpose with my phd-thesis is to explore the medieval church and the christian cult. The area to be researched are altars and relics. The questions deals with form/construction och function: Are all altars consecrated? Do all altars contain relics? What are the functions of the side-altars? How often do we find altars in towers and what role can they have in liturgy?
