Bagadilico – a joint initiative for the development of novel therapies for basal ganglia disorders

-Revealing the mechanisms at the molecular and cellular levels underlying basal ganglia degenerative disorders, primarly Parkinson’s and Huntington’s diseases
-Developing novel therapies, which either intervene in disease pathogenesis or repair the already damaged brain
-Inventing, refining and applying clinical research tools that assist in accurate diagnosis and provide clues to disease pathogenesis
-Examining interactions between this frontline biomedical and biotechnological research with society in a cultural context, encompassing bioethical issues, patient expectations, political decision-making and health economics.
