Cardiac Pump Physiology in the Remodeled Heart

Project: Dissertation

Project Details

Description

The general aim of this project is to increase our understanding of cardiac pumping physiology in health and disease using cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. Two widely different cohorts with large hearts are included: patients with heart failure and healthy elite athletes. Both populations have remodeled hearts, however patients have decreased diastolic or systolic function while athletes have normal or slightly enhanced diastolic function. Both populations are complemented by an age-matched, untrained control population.
