Description

CARE4CARE is a three-year research project which is coordinated by the University of Florence and funded by the European Commission through a Horizon Europe grant. The project is interdisciplinary and comparative and engages researchers in six EU Member States (France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, and Sweden).

The aim of the project is to investigate the working conditions and working environment of care workers and to develop tools to improve job quality and counteract discrimination in the care sector.

The Covid-19 pandemic has emphasised the centrality of care work in modern societies. At the same time, the pandemic highlighted many critical issues affecting the working conditions of care workers. In September 2021, during her State of the Union speech, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen pointed out the need for decent working conditions for all workers in the care sector and announced a European Care Strategy.

CARE4CARE also aim, through research and new knowledge, to contribute to developments in legislation, collective bargaining, and policy and to an exchange of best practices.
