Popular science description
My work regards gestures in children between 18–30 months. Previous research on child gesture mostly concern the period from 9–20 months, but gestures are typically temporally and semantically coordinated with speech. Questions such as how children use gestures and what types of gestures that they perform during the period when spoken language takes off for real remain to be answered.
