Crust, Core and Collision – Unraveling the evolution of differentiated asteroids

The aim of the project is to study and analyze a relatively unstudied and enigmatic group of stony-iron meteorites: the mesosiderites. The goal is to use petrography, noble gas spectrometry, and Hf-W chronology to better understand the complex formation and evolution of these meteorites and, in turn, gain insight into the formation of the planets.
