For a successful growth of dual-fuel applications the emissions, efficiency and gas/diesel energy ratio have to be better understood and the appropriate way to do this is through simulation. For this a good predictive combustion model is needed, which can be used in existing engine-simulation tools or controllers. So to enable further enhancement of dual fuel technology by simulation, the following goal will be achieved in this research project:

Development of a dual fuel combustion model, to predict crank angle resolved in-cylinder pressure and temperature.
