Early Swedish Travelers and Philhellenism in Scandinavia

From the mid-18th century, Swedish travellers with good knowledge of Classical and Modern Greek, came to Greece for solely scientific reasons. The publication of their travel impressions in Swedish, with their frequent references to the life of the Greeks, are the seeds for the current Philhellenism, that developed in Scandinavia at the start of the Greek revolution.
