Description

District heating and cooling systems supply heating and cooling to buildings in urban areas. The systems offer large potential for reducing primary energy use and carbon emissions. The continuous research and development on these systems have now reached of the 5th generation. In this innovative technology, connected buildings share energy flows with each other through the pipe network. Sharing energy flows has positive outcomes on the environment, the economy, and the society. This research project aims to develop a simulation model that presents new knowledge about the 5th generation district heating and cooling systems.
