Endocrinologic comorbidities and long-term follow-up in ANCA associated vasculitis – Population-based studies

This project involves a number of studies on a Swedish population-based cohort of patients with ANCA associated vasculitis (AAV) that was started in Lund nearly 20 years ago. The general objective of this project is to increase knowledge in the field of AAV to ultimately improve long-term outcome and quality of life for patients. Furthermore, we aim to understand the association of AAV with a number of important comorbidities, in particular endocrinological diseases. The patients with AAV from southern Sweden form one of the world’s largest population-based cohort. This cohort together with a high quality Swedish administrative register and two large population-based health screening studies give us a globally unique opportunity to address a number of unanswered questions on the descriptive and analytical epidemiology of AAV.
