Description

This project is about numerical simulation of systems describing complex dynamic physics, interacting across an interface. Examples would be models for ocean-atmosphere interaction, thermal interaction of structures with air, such as in rocket nozzles, or aero-acoustic, where sound is generated by flow, e.g. from wind turbines. These models are assumed to be implemented in separate codes in a so called partitioned coupling approach. Since the codes represent long-term development work, it is desirable to reuse them and treat them as black boxes as much as possible.
The aim is a method that is high order and adaptive in time, allows for different time steps in the separate models (multirate), allows reuse of codes for the subproblems, their parallel execution, makes efficient use of hardware resources, is robust and in which all iterations involved are fast.
