Functional characterization of blood group proteins

This project aims to understand the roles that blood group antigens play in the context of red blood cell biology. The effects of losing these antigens will be first studied in artificial systems, then investigated in humans. Possible outcomes may include uncovering the implications of the absence of these antigens in certain individuals and formulation of treatment strategies.
