Description

Main study in the future thesis is the randomized clinical study ALLLAN – Early integration of specialized care. ALLAN includes cancer patients with gastrointestinal cancer and investigates difference in quality of life, survival and chemotherapy usage in patients admitted to specialized care at cancer diagnosis versus patients admitted on demand to specialized palliative care. The other two articles are retrospective studies looking at chemotherapy use close to death in pancreatic cancer patients and effects of admittance to palliative care on the same patient group.

Avslutade randomiserad, prövarinitierad studie, start 2014 och avslut 2021 (ALLAN, ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT02246725), randomiserades patienter med en icke-botbar gastrointestinal cancer vid start av kemoterapi antingen till tidig integration av palliativ vård eller kontakt med den palliativa vården vid behov i ett senare skede (usual care).
