Greenhouse gas (GHG) production in Swedish fiberbanks – combining GHG measurements and microbial analysis for improved assessment

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

In the FIB-GHG project, methane production from polluted sediments originating from the papermill industry, the so-called fiberbanks, is investigated.
The project is led by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.

Lund University participates in this project, by characterizing the potential microorganisms linked to production and consumption of methane in the sediments and the water column above. To do this we use metagenomics, a state-of-the-art DNA sequencing method.
