Project Details

Description

Approximately 300 children and adolescents below the age of 18 years are diagnosed yearly with cancer in Sweden. The aetiology of childhood cancer remains mostly unknown, apart from children with certain syndromes and known genetic predisposition, described in up to 10% of children with cancer. The proportion of genetic predisposition varies in different cancer diagnoses and for certain syndromes a genetic diagnosis is mandatory.
Studying the impact on socioeconomic status in families diagnosed with childhood cancer is another salient aspect across the world.
