Project Details
Description
Type 2 diabetes (T2D) develops due to dysfunction of endocrine cells in the pancreatic islets of Langerhans, often in combination with insulin resistance in muscle, liver, and adipose tissue. In this project we are using long-read RNA-sequencing of human pancreatic islets from donors with and without T2D to generate gene expression data at single isoform resolution in single cells. This will deepen our knowledge of the different islet cell islet types and identify cellular changes that contribute to T2D.
