Description

The only way to measure tumor infiltration in skin tissue is by excising it surgically and then analyzing it histologically after surgery. The aim of the present project is to develop and test new non-invasive imaging techniques to determine the tumor margin before surgery. This would enable more reliable tumor resection, as there would be less risk of leaving malignant cells. This would greatly benefit the patient and reduce health care costs as fewer surgical procedures would be necessary.

The project is both experimental and clinical, and is being performed in collaboration with researchers at the Faculty of Engineering, Lund University.
