IFELD: Improving Free-electron laser design through simulations and experiments

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

Hamburg and Lund are two main hubs for accelerator-based research in Europe with European XFEL, FLASH, PETRA III, MAX IV and the ESS. In a forward-looking step, a collaboration between research groups at Lund University and Hamburg University in Accelerator physics is set up through seed funding.
A project on improving the next generation of Free Electrons Lasers has been initiated. Free Electron Lasers being extremely powerful light sources useful for investigations in a large number of research areas and based on advanced accelerator technology.
Through workshops, exchange in simulations work and experimental campaigns we will improve our understanding and our PhD students will collaborate in common challenges and the two groups will find joint research subjects for future cooperation.
