Improving adherence to antiretroviral therapy among adolescents living with HIV in Ethiopia

    Project: Dissertation

    Project Details

    Description

Poor compliance with treatment is a significant challenge among adolescents living with HIV in Ethiopia, leading to poor treatment outcomes. The purpose of this project is to improve treatment outcomes among adolescents with HIV by developing and testing e-health interventions that will increase HIV treatment adherence and retention in care.

The framework for trials of complex interventions developed by the Medical Research Council serves as a methodological basis for the research. HIV positive adolescents who are on treatment for two years or less and aged 10-19 years are included in this study. Representatives of adolescents have been involved in the designing of the interventions. This study builds on the results of and addresses recommendations of previous projects and involves a training program for a doctoral student.

The research project is a part of the FORTE financed research program eChildHealth.
