Improving robustness and resilience of bridges as integral links in the transport network

The proposed project is concerned with establishing comprehensive and practical guidance for designing bridges to be more robust and resilient as integral links in the transportation network. The aim is to improve the treatment of robustness and resilience in bridge design by considering which methods are available, how effective they are (or can be), and how structural engineers can be guided in the design process from conceptual to final design specification and the preparation of operation manuals.
