Isolation of hemicelluloses from spent-sulfite-liquor

Project: Dissertation

Project Details

Description

Hemicellulose from wood is dissolved during pulping. The hemicelluloses can be of either oligomeric or monomeric form. The aim of this project is to extract and purify oligomeric hemicelluloses from spent cooking liquors. The hemicelloloses will then be used in a project at the department of Biochemistry and Structural Biology for further processing into valuble polymers by enzymatic processes. The second part of the project will be to concentrate the product from the enzymatic processes.
