Participant in the research network MACS 1998-2003
Forskningsprogrammet Autumn (The Automobile in the Human and Natural Environment) startades 1990 av Prof Emil Tengström, Göteborgs Universitet, Institutionen för tvärvetenskapliga studier av människans villkor och Inst. för Humanteknologi vid Göteborgs universitet . Autumn-programmet var indelat i fyra forskargrupper:• ACROSS - the automobile at the cross-roads• COPE- closures and openings in the history of automotive technology• MACS- man, the automobile, culture and society• SCRAP - social responses to automobility and its problems. Finansiärer var inledningsvis Kommunikationsforskningsberedningen och Göteborgs universitet men bidrag lämnades av Volvo.
Forskargruppen utvecklades till ett nätverk och finansierades på annat vis.
