This thesis concerns Malmö's first city architect, William Klein from Copenhagen, his education at the academy there, and his activities in Malmö, as: pedagogue, designer, networker, architect and city official in a new function. Klein played a key role during a formative period for modern Malmö, but has left few traces in Swedish architectural history, which raises questions on how it is written.
