Description
The purpose of the project is to initiate collaborative work on the important tipping point of the Amazon Dieback between various MERGE partners (CEC and INES) and the Bolin Centre for Climate Research. The specific aims are to:
• Collect expertise from MERGE and the Bolin Centre relevant for the Amazon Dieback,
• Review the scientific literature on the Amazon Dieback,
• Synthesize the leading theories on the Amazon Dieback (i.e. feedback processes) and formulate alternative theories (i.e. convection and energy constraints)
• Carry out initial analysis on the Amazon Dieback on data available from CMIP6, and
• Prepare the blueprint of a competitive research proposal across Lund and Stockholm University.
