Mesolithic and Neolithic settlement and mortuary practice in southern Portugal

Research was focused on Mesolithic shell middens with graves in the Sado river valley and megalithic tombs within Vale de Rodrigo, in the province of Alentejo. A tomb was excavated by a Swedish team 1991-2001. The tomb turned out to enclose some very interesting features such as a forecourt with several depositions of pottery as well as interred children.
