MicroRNA regulation of Alpha cell function

The core of the project is to analyze RNA sequencing data from sorted pancreatic islets and determine what miRNAs are expressed in the two main differnet cell types: beta cells ans alpha cells. The miRNAs are then studied in vitro for outcomes such as hormone secretion and cell survival on both cell lines and primary cells.
The aim of the project is to find miRNAs that are specifically involved in regulation of alpha cell function and increase understanding of this cell type.
