Norm, Variation, and Standardisation

The project concerns linguistic variation and standardisation. The research topic is the interpretation of implicit subjects in French and Italian. The languages are typologically closely related while strikingly different with regard to standardisation. The comparison can shed light on the grammar and pragmatics of implicit reference, and provide insights into the phenomenon of standardisation.
