Optimized rehabilitation associated with primary breast cancer treatment - Systematic screening as a tool for individualised rehabilitation.

A substantial proportion of women with breast cancer (BC) experience a wide range of long-term persistent and troublesome side effects related to the disease and its treatment, like pain, depression, fatigue, and distress. Even though there are lots of research on effective rehabilitation interventions, patients report unmet needs, and structures to enable early identification of patients´ needs and to ensure individualised evidence-based rehabilitation are needed.
This project is a part of the ReScreen complex intervention study, aiming to develop a model for screening-based individualized rehabilitation after treatment for primary breast cancer. In this project we aim to generate knowledge about the conditions for individualised screening based has rehabilitation, to ensure that the model is clinically applicable. The project investigates the health care personnel's experiences of barriers and facilitators for individualised rehabilitation, and the processes in the ReScreen randomized controlled trial (RCT) have been tested in a feasibility- and pilot study, including the distribution of distress.

Bröstcancer har idag en god prognos, men sjukdom och behandling kan leda till olika besvärande och kvarstående symtom och biverkningar såsom smärta, depression, fatigue och distress. Trots att det finns mycket forskning som visar på effektiva rehabiliteringsåtgärder, så uppger kvinnor att deras behov inte möts. Det behövs strukturer för att identifiera behov tidigt, för att möjliggöra individualiserad och evidensbaserad rehabilitering.
Detta projekt är en del av Re Screen-studien, som är en komplex interventionsstudie med syfte att utveckla en modell för screeningbaserad, individualiserad rehabilitering efter behandling för bröstcancer. Detta projekt har som syfte att generera kunskap om förutsättningar för individualiserad screeningbaserad rehabilitering, för att säkerställa så modellen är kliniskt applicerbar. Projektet undersöker hälso- och sjukvårdspersonals upplevelse av hinder och möjligheter för individualiserad rehabilitering, och processerna i ReScreen-studiens randomiserade kontrollerade studie (RCT) har testats i en feasibility- och pilotstudie, inklusive distributionen av distress.
