Description
Positron emission tomography (PET) is a nuclear medicine imaging technique depicting the spatial distribution of metabolic or biochemical activity in the body. It is most often used combined with computed tomography (CT) in order to obtain anatomic images. PET-CT is routinely performed in patients with cervical cancer and bladder cancer (the two malignancies of interest in this project). Common measures, such as the maximum standardised uptake value (SUV), has not been shown to predict survival benefits. Thus, other imaging biomarkers with the potential to aid in treatment and prognostic decisions is of the essence. In this project, we aim to explore the ability of advanced measurements of PET-CT images to predict outcome such as survival and treatment response in patients with cervical cancer and urinary bladder cancer and to develop automated meausrements (based on artificial intelligence).
