Powerful media: On the use of pictures during the Vendel and Viking Age, their contexts and functions

In the Vendel and Viking Periods, depictions of human beings were very common. I analyze the motifs and their relations to the object and other aspects of their contexts, and how the contexts changed during these centuries.
