Regulatory mechanisms underlying blood group expression

Gloria Wu’s PhD project aims to utilize various database resources to assess variants in potential transcription factor binding sites across the blood group encoding genes and examine existing databases of human variation for variants that might affect expression in different tissues. The effect of these variants on gene and protein (and in some cases glycan) expression levels will be examined and the effect correlated with various cellular functions.
