Description
Doing the right thing from the beginning - planning and gradually creating a society based on people's different needs and abilities - should be obvious choice, but it is not. One of the main reasons is a lack of knowledge regarding Universal Design as an overall design thinking strategy and in the form of concrete processes that lead to inclusive results. “Right from the start” is a three-year project. It is led by Funktionsrätt Sverige in collaboration with Certec and with support from Arvsfonden.
“Right from the start” wants to contribute to the implementation of a society for all by:
1. enhancing the knowledge of universal design and create strategies and methods for working with Universal Design
2. contributing to the creation of inclusive environments, services and activities, primarily in the field of education, the housing sector and the labor market
The starting point is the human rights perspective that is clarified in the UNCRPD (the convention on the rights of persons with disabilities) but also current research and development.
