Project Details
Description
Each historic shift in mobility and energy extraction has led to major changes in the ways that we plan and build our communities and habitats. However, during the last century, both discussion and innovation within the built environment have increasingly focused on one specific environment, a typology that, to a large extent, was shaped by the availability of fossil fuels: the city.
Something in Common: Life Beyond the City wants to look at, hear from, speculate about, and develop future visions for the 98% of Sweden's surface that is not yet urbanized, based on the contemporary weak signals and trends which point to the countryside's potential and its central role in a sustainable transition for all. The project uses Tranemo Kommun as its test bed and Väveriet in Uddebo as a starting point andlocation for a public exhibition, co-created together with local residents and stakeholders, about life in the countryside in 2040.
