Description

The aim of the project is to contribute to the design and analysis of graph-based codes and their decoding algorithms with the focus on spatially coupled codes. This work includes analyzing the performance and complexity trade-offs between various spatially coupled code constructions and developing guidelines for novel promising constructions. In particular, the aim is to address the fundamental open issue in coding of achieving both close-to-capacity performance and very low error rates for block lengths of practical interest, by applying the recently introduced concept of spatial coupling to turbo-like code constructions. The work involves both a theoretical assessment of the considered codes and an evaluation by means of computer simulations.
