In my doctoral dissertation I examine the spiritist movement in Sweden between 1870 and 1930, from critical media- and cultural historical perspectives.
My approach is twofold, which means that I, on the one hand, investigate the entangled media history of spiritist actors, spiritist networks and spiritist circulations. And, on the other hand, look into media practices as well as mediations and how these impacted everyday lives, views on reality and created a mediatised spiritist world, in which the spiritists lived with and through their media.
My base is a rich source material, consisting of e.g. correspondence, newspapers, spiritist magazines and books, seance protocols, spiritistic art and spirit photography.
