Description
In my doctoral dissertation I analyse the spiritist society Edelweissföbundet’s practices and media ecology from around the turn of the century 1900, in order to understand how religious mediated practices create and maintain a mediatized world
More concretely, I investigate the circumstances enabling and limiting Edelweissförbundet’s activities, the (media)networks Edelweissförbundet and its members were situated within, the meeting of everyday life and spiritism and the mediatizaion that led to, Edelweissförbundet’s spirit communicative practices and rituals as well as media use before, during and after séances.
My source material consists of printed material as well as personal documents, such as correspondence or seance protocols.
