Project Details
Description
This project focuses on the social aspects of sustainable accessibility. It aims at analysing how public transport service planning can bring about outcomes that are more supportive of the needs of different user groups, such as children and young people, the elderly, and groups with transport poverty and/or disabilities. This entails an assessment of how to balance pot-entially competing social, economic and ecological goals and tensions when deciding about the (re)design of (existing) public transport systems/networks, both from a qualitative and quantitative perspective. The project is carried out as a close collaboration between research-ers at LTH, Malmö University and VTI, together with representatives from the public transport authorities in Stockholm, Västra Götaland, Skåne and the Swedish Transport Adm-inistration. It has the ambition of providing results of practical use in transport policy and planning.
