With a large number of patients affected by diabetes early in life, complications will develop in younger patients and in a substantial number of older individuals. Diabetes can affect hands, particularly nerves causing different symptoms. It's common with stiff fingers, trigger fingers and Dupuytren's contracture. Interestingly, even the mentioned conditions are frequent in relation to diabetes few patients experience severe impairment on quality of life (Cederlund et al). However, it is important to carefully treat patients with hand problems and particularly be aware about potential problems when doing surgery on these patients.
