Project Details
Description
Background: As the aging population continues to grow and the number of orthopedic surgeries is expected to dramatically increase, there is a growing need for improving the effectiveness of orthopedic procedures. Pain and anxiety are commonly reported among orthopedic surgery patients, and pharmacological approaches only provide limited control. Thus, it is imperative to explore innovative non-pharmacological treatment options to improve the quality of care.
Questions: We performed a meta-analysis to answer the questions: Can the applied psychosocial techniques reduce (1) postoperative pain, (2) perioperative anxiety, and enhance (3) quality of life, (4) recovery in adults undergoing orthopedic surgery?
This project is now in the publication phase.
